Review:
I saw this because Danny Trejo and Eric Roberts in it. It's not like the two actors master or whatever, but I find them very sympathetic, even in films B. (B as in the low budget or just bad.) Trejo and Roberts has small parts, a total of probably less than 10 minutes, the screen in between the time. Eric Roberts seems to sleepwalking, stoned, or both. The rest of the cast is unrelentingly terrible, either mumbling or chew the scenery as logs blessed with the gift of speech.The dialog unnatural, young, and there is humor and feeling. The plot, including a secret society of exorcists battle demons, is pointless and meaningless. This idea has already been done a few times: Constantine 2005 Hellboy 2004 The Ninth Gate 1999, for example. Each of these, although a masterpiece among them, is infinitely better than this poor special effects offering.The is incredibly bad, something that is very difficult to achieve with the current cheap computer graphics technology. It is often impossible to tell what might be going on with all the random flashes of light and color moving images of geological formations. The camera work is very awkward. Eric Roberts is one of the few scenes, hes talking to a priest whose head is out of frame eye level.I wish there was something positive I could say about the canvas. Oh ... something, it gives my wife, who has been suffering from insomnia lately, asleep.
